My journey.
My creative journey did not begin with UI/UX design.
It all started at the kitchen table with my mom every day after elementary school. My mom would make a strawberry banana smoothie, turn on my favorite Korean tv show, and provide me with an abundance of art supplies. Those afternoons became a core memory for me and ignited my love for art and creating. She got me interested in drawing and painting to the point where I wanted to take classes. My passion for art only continued to grow. In high school I got introduced to clay, and that is when I learned I loved being able to create a physical product from a vision. I wanted to create with a purpose. Years fly by and it is time to decide what I wanted to major in; I knew I wanted to create, but what did I want to do?
At Georgia College and State University, I was able to experience the different fields of art development while striving to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Studio. I learned techniques in printmaking, 3-Dimensional art, 2-Dimensional art, computer art, and photography. College gave me the opportunity to learn that photography is my favorite hobby, and digital art is my passion. I left Georgia College and State University with my Fine Arts degree in hand, but where do I go from here?
Years go by and I decided that I wanted to go back to school and achieve a certificate in UI/UX design after talking with my sister’s friend. While being a student part-time, I get the chance to be the Alpharetta Chamber’s Marketing Coordinator, continuing my opportunities in digital creation. With the knowledge I was learning in my course, I was able to apply it to my job responsibilities. In less than a year, I completed my Georgia Tech certificate for UI/UX Design.
Now I am here, and I can’t wait to see how my skills in UI/UX can better improve the lives of future users.
